Telematics for Group-based Learning: Simplicity versus (or With?) Functionality
نویسندگان
چکیده
Group-based learning is being introduced into many settings in higher education. Is this a sustainable development with respect to the resources required? Under what conditions can groupbased learning be applied successfully in distance education and in increasingly flexible campusbased learning? Can telematic support facilitate and enrich courses where group-based learning is applied? These questions formed the basis of the motivation for the research project whose main results are presented here. The goals set for the research were the identification of problems associated with planning, operationalisation and monitoring in group-based learning in higher education and the identification of telematic support options which, in combination with appropriate instructional decisions, have the potential to remedy these problems. The solutions identified were tested in the context of three case studies.

Effectiveness Of Continuous Versus Pulsed Short-Wave Diathermy In The Management Of Knee Osteoarthritis: A Randomised Pilot Study
Background: Short-wave diathermy (SWD) is an electrotherapeutic modality used in the conservative treatment of knee osteoarthritis (KOA). Electromagnetic radiation delivered in continuous (cSWD) or pulse (pSWD) mode provides a deep heating effect on tissues. There is no consensus on outcomes of treatment with cSWD versus pSWD in KOA. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of cSWD ve...

Background & Aim: To assess functionality status and surgical outcome of fenestration versus laminotomy technique based on Core Outcome Measures Index (COMI) in patients with lumbar disc hernia (LDH). Methods & Materials/Patients: A cross-sectional study was performed between January 2007 and April 2012. A total of 108 patients with a single-level disc herniation were asked to respond to the...
متن کاملComparing Academic Achievement in Lecture-based Learning Versus Problem-based Learning among Medical Students: A Systematic Review
Introduction: Nowadays researchers widely believe that there are differences in the effectiveness of problem-based training compared to traditional methods such as lecture. This study was done in order to compare academic achievement in lecture-based learning versus problem-based learning among medical students through a systematic review. Methods: This study is a secondary research done using...
متن کاملDesktop Synchronous Distance Learning Application Enhanced with Efficient Chair Control Capabilities
The use of multimedia in Telematics and new services has been greatly improved by the introduction of new systems and techniques. These new systems and techniques made the implementation of many telematic applications like Synchronous Distance Learning possible. In this paper, we present design, functionality and implementation issues, which concern a Synchronous Distance Learning application. ...
متن کاملTHE EFFECT OF STANDARD AND REVERSED SUBTITLING VERSUS NO SUBTITLING MODE ON L2 VOCABULARY LEARNING
Audiovisual material accompanied by interlingual subtitles is a powerful pedagogical tool which can help improve the vocabulary learning of second-language learners. This study was intended to determine whether or not the mode (standard and reversed) of subtitling affects the incidental vocabulary acquisition of Iranian L2 learners while watching TV programs. Forty-five participants were random...
